Mystic Wand from Vibratex through the paces.

July 16th, 2010

Mystic Wand from VibratexI guess everybody knows the Queen bee of vibrators, the Hitachi Magic Wand is known as the most powerful vibrator on the planet, offering orgasms so intense, many actually ‘train’ their privates by placing the vibe over their clothes. But with its big, bulky shape and plug-in power, getting off can be a bit of a hassle. – Which is why companies high and low have tried – with the occasionally ‘close to’ stamp – to make a rival to the throne. – More often than not though; failing miserably in the attempt.

How do you even compete with an immense success like the Magic Wand? – A favorite of women around the world? Well, most companies probably wouldn’t even dare speculate, but if push comes to shove, who better to try than the company that actually made the Hitachi Magic Wand in the first place. And with that, please meet the Mystic Wand.

The amazing girlz over at Sh! Women’s Erotic Emporium – the women run, operated and owned empire for all ladiez out there – was kind enough to ship us this new Princess bee of female ejaculation for a review. At least that’s what the new Mystic Wand is supposed to be…

So then, still made by California based Vibratex, a now well-respected company. – Actually they were probably – or originally – best known for bringing the very popular Rabbit type vibes from Japan to the US market. And still most of the company’s products are of the weird and creepy (to me at least) anthropomorphic Rabbit style and in transparent pastels, so the Mystic Wand really stands out in its functional, no-nonsense design.

First off; it’s a smaller, lighter and all around new-and-improved version of the Magic Wand. The wand again boasts a big, round and soft bulbous head for stimulating soft sensuous and erotic areas, or just simple pleasant massage, – intimate or not. It’s coated with an easy to clean silicone, offering six different speeds and pulsations with flexible positioning via its flexible neck. – The bulbous vibrating head is attached to the body of the toy, where the lights and power button live, via a bendable and rotate-able joint.

I was actually really impressed by the toy when I first took it out of the packaging; The silicone head feels silky smooth, and the handle is better sized for a woman’s hand than the unwieldy Magic Wand. – Making it easy to grip and maneuver… And it’s a reasonable length as well… The complete specs are: Length, 8¼ inches, Girth 5¾ inches and Diameter 1¾ at its widest point.

It really just feels and looks solid and well-made… and powerful too…

Having read the instructions and put the batteries, four AAs, in, – which are not included – I tested the buttons. The button for intensity is cleverly designed with a different color light for each setting – deep red is the most intense, reasonably enough. I usually ignore most of the mode setting buttons on fancy vibrators – I just want the thing to vibrate, not cycle through some complicated dance routine – but occasionally the pulsation settings generated by the second button are quite nice. Its vibrations can create their own little party on the clitoris, perineum, anus… or pretty much where ever else you think really strong vibrations would turn you on. On a purely theoretical level, vaginal penetration is possible if that’s what floats your boat…

After the unpacking we ran for the bed and dove right into some clit stim-play, wanting to see if the toy had any mystical power over my OH’s clit. To be fair, she’s not really the vibrating connoisseur. She much prefers a penetrating toy, and more often than not just a plain dildo is what gets her off best. – But she was quite taken by our play and the pulsating settings of the wand…

Anyway, we played around with just clit play a bit, but fairly quickly switched to her favorite toys she could insert and then make into vibrators of sorts, simply by pressing the Mystic Wand against these. – Which turned out to be what she loved most about the wand, that it actually was powerful enough to turn her favorite dildos into something more and better. – Much more so than any bullet or similar she had previously felt against her toys.

When it came to see how best to use the Mystic Wand with me, it was a bloody revelation holding the toy up under my scrotum, pressing it against my sensitive perineum area. I have a few prostate massagers with vibration and perineum stimulation as well, but with no toy have I ever felt the power this little wand delivers. And then when she starting giving me a blowjob at the same time… – Just *blipping* awesome!

Now although the Mystic Wand is not waterproof, it does seem to be splash-proof and easily withstood a quick bath with anti-bacterial soap and some hot water for cleaning after our play session. The manufacturer recommends the use of sex toy cleaner or a warm wet cloth combined with mild soap and water. I would try to keep the battery case and controls dry though, just to be on the safe side of things.

The Mystic wand is made from a combination of plastic and silicone: the mechanical heart of the toy is made of plastic while the external bits and pieces are silicone. With the exception of the control panel, anything that comes in contact with skin is pure silicone. – And being silicone of course; it’s compatible with all water-based lubricants. – Do not combine the Mystic Wand with silicone-based lubricants as silicone on silicone degrades the toy’s silicone coating.

The only peripheral the Mystic Wand comes with, is a velvet pouch designed for storage. – For some reason the pouch seems to give off quite a bit of fuzz or lint-whatever. – Which is pretty bad… So after some hassle getting that off again we put it in a better pouch, but it really should come with a better storage pouch. – Which actually turned out to be the only bad thing in this whole package, and that’s not really anything directly pointed at the toy as such…

And also worth mentioning; despite the power and the setting options, the Mystic Wand isn’t noisier than most other massagers or traditional vibrators we’ve come across. Were someone to be standing outside your bedroom door and listening closely, chances are they would probably be able to guess that a vibrator were being used – note that they would guess ‘vibrator’ and not ‘blender’ or ‘chainsaw’. – For all its power we actually deem this a pretty quiet one. – We certainly have other vibrators with more cough, rattle and racket than this one.

So; if you’re tired of the unwieldy, heavy lifting of the Magic Wand, the Mystic Wand is most definitely a great option. It might not be quite as powerful as the Magic Wand, but I’m betting it’s more than enough for the 99% out there in need of a great option to – or replacement of – the Magic Wand.

All in all It’s a definite recommendation from us. – And at the price the Sh! girlz smacked on the Mystic Wand, you just can’t go wrong. – It’s just not possible.

Vibratex offers a one-year warranty on all its products. – And remember to use rechargeable AA’s. The wand actually goes a mile and a half on a charge, – depending on which type of batteries you use of course. But definitely enough to get your rocks of several times…
